Hey Bloggies,
Seems like I haven't written in a while. Anywho, here I am, back in Saint John again, running with the Marathon group. And I forgot my mp3 player in the 'Chi, so I'm a little grrrrry about that, but I'll have to do without for tomorrow and Thursday's runs. Anywho, what's new? As for me, I ran in two races over the weekend and didn't do as well in Shediac as I would've liked. But I did get a personal best in Miramichi on Sunday (for a 10 km), although I didn't place high as a lot of faster runners in my age group came out for that race (it was a provincial championship).
Well, 15 days before I turn the big 2-9. Looking forward to it. Not necessarily the b-day itself, as I seem to be cursed with birthdays in the past, but just knowing that I'm reaching a point in my life where I'm starting to really set long term goals for myself. In another few years, the student loans will only be a memory, I'll be getting ready to obtain my Masters degree and I'm starting to look at the housing market. And I think even more impressive than that, is the fact that they nay-sayers I had in high school are being proved wrong. I'm achieving success in what I do, and will keep proving them wrong. Haha, I guess that was kind of my "look at me now" rant!!!
Alright, time for this episode of "My shout out to...". This time around my shout out goes to : Power Bar Gel packs!!! These packs are freaking amazing and they taste great too. I've been using them more and more lately, and have noticed a difference in my recovery time. It feels like my body is capable of taking the constant abuse of training hard, and even racing harder, and although I can't say it's because of these gels, I'm pretty sure they have something to do with it. I'll have to have a bunch of them available for Marathon by the Sea, as that will be somewhat of a 3:30 - 4:00 hour run.
Well, I'm back in SJ for a few days, if there is anybody out there that is bored, give me a holler. Catch ya later and take it easy,
Ev

Hello again Bloggies!!
How are ya'z?? Well, another damn rainy day here in the B-ville. I'm gearing up to go back to SJ to see some fog for a change of pace. Seems like it's been raining here at least once a day, every day since I've been back. Hopefully it'll be nice this weekend as it's a race weekend. Tomorrow's race in Shediac should be huge as it's a Timex race (another type of points race) which means some of the heavy hitters should be there. I image Alex Coffin, Rob Jackson and possibly even Dean Strowbrige will be there. Which means I shouldn't be looking to hit any landspeed records against them. Once that race finishes, it looks like Cindy and Danny (my cousin and her husband) want to take us out for a trip on their boat. Which should be fun, as it's a hell of a boat supposedly. I come back to pick up my race kit for Sunday, which may be one of the biggest races for me this year, as it doesn't look like Chris Brake will be there. Which means I get to put a little distance between the two of us in our little points race. Hopefully that works out.
As for life in general, today was a choppy day. Seems like the whole family is going a little crazy in some way or another these days. I think vacation is not working out for them like they'd want. If I see much more fighting or anything like that, I'm heading back to SJ for the rest of the summer, which is really not what I want, but it may be easier on the head.
Time for my usual shout out to one thing. Today's thing is definetly.......Facebook!!! Damn, not because it's addicting, but I've found a shitload of people that I lost touch with, and every once in a while, I try to fire off a few messages here and there to see what the long lost strangers are up to. Hopefully, I'll be firing off a few more soon and try to reconnect with some people that turns out are living in Saint John. And thing is, without Facebook, I would've never known this. And I'm always looking to know more people in SJ.
Anyway, that's today's rant. Hope to hear back from all of you (yes, all 2 or 3 people that may read this). Peace out,
E

Rain, rain, rain and ummmmm... more rain
Ola Bloggies!!!
Blechhh!!! What a day here in the good old Barryville. Not much of a chance to get outside and do anything interesting. My only options were to sit and watch the rain, watch t.v., spend time on the internet, or play drums. Well, it's apparent as I write this that I must've spent some time online, but besides that, drumming took over the majority of the day. I'm working on my coordination even more as I'm now working to control a double bass pedal. For those of you that know what that is, I'm sure you can feel my pain and frustration. For those of you that don't really follow or like drumming, let me tell you, it's painful and frustrating, :) I seem to be getting the basics of it more and more, but I'll need a few more weeks of steady practice if I'm going to become a double pedal monster. Once I can master it, I should look impressive in a club with my massive kit, and different set of skills. By different, (and this is for drum fanatics out there), I play open handed (à la Carter Beauford of The Dave Matthews Band) and by massive kit, well, I guess you'd just have to see it.
Very few of you Bloggies have seen my kit yet, and I choose to keep it hidden for a little while longer as my never ending search for a band continues.
Wow, that was quite the rant about drumming. Hmmmm, what's next? Let's see, how about Transformers? Has everybody that has seen it liked it? I'm probably going to check it out between next Monday and Thursday as I'll be in SJ to Run with students for this week. More than likely, I'll be looking for things to do also other than cleaning my apt and making up lesson plans (yes, that's right, I'm thinking about next year already, eeekk!!!)
Alrighty, just a reminder to all of you Bloggies that my B-Day is coming up on July 25th. I know what you're saying as I'm writing this. "What am I going to get Evan for his birthday?" Well, I just wanted to make sure that none of you go over the $100 limit for my gift. But it is prudent to stay somewhere between the $90-$99 range, heh heh. Seriously though, this B-day is kind of exciting as I turn 29. Another year, and I'll hit the 3-0. Which is pretty cool in my books. I may become one of the first 30something teachers that still gets mistaken as a student in a highschool everytime he wears a hoodie on casual Friday.
Anywho, that should be enough ranting on my part for today. Hope to hear from you all of you soon,
Evy

Back to the blog
Hey Bloggies,
I'm back, in a newer and what seems to be in a much better environment. This blogger.com site seems to be pretty awesome. Well, finally summer is here, and everything seems to be picking up a little. I had my first taste of the water yesterday. First, canoeing with a group of kids from Camp Sheldrake, then, my parents finally got their boat out on the water where I've gotten a whole newfound appreciation for boating. Good times.
"If any of you Bloggies would like to have a cold, you can e-mail me at evanhachey@hotmail.com and I will ship you mine for free. I may actually pay you a small sum to take it from me....Yes, that's right, I will pay you for this cold." Sounds like a bad infomercial, but I had to put that plug in, just in case anybody would be interested, as I know there are some sick puppies out there (not actual puppies).
Anywho, for those of you that know me, running is my thing. And this weekend is a two race weekend. Saturday is a 10 km in Dieppe, and Sunday is a 10 km race right here in the Miramichi. As James (a running friend of mine) said last weekend, "Time to show all of these people what us homegrown people can do". Hopefully the ankle will hold up, and I'll be breathing a little normally by then. But as of right now, I'm pretty sure of doing both of them, especially the one here in the Miramichi, seeing how it's on my own home turf. If any of you in the Dieppe and Miramichi area are into watching a good race, or just wanna come support me, it'd be awesome.
Speaking of running, some of you know that I'm working with a program called "Run with It". The program is training some of our SJHS students to run a full marathon in September (Marathon by the Sea). These kids are already highly motivated, but they seem to love when people honk and wave at them while they train. So, if any of you Bloggies from the SJ area see a group of kids running on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays at 5 pm or Saturday mornings, feel free to wave to them, or honk, and show your support as it a huge undertaking on their behalf. You'll mostly find the group in and around the Boys and Girls club, although their range is getting much more extensive, as they now can run to any corner of the city. Mentoring this group of kids are Russell Smith and David Baxter (who are amazing role models and coaches for this bunch of students), and as teacher advisors there is Ms. Wagg and myself.
Well, I think I've rambled on enough for this one session, and here's hoping with the summer ahead of me, and lots of time on my hands, that I can keep this blog updated for all of you Bloggies out there (possibly the 3 or 4 people that might actually read this, lol). Anywho, peace out...
